I don't know how long it has been broken, but I just noticed it today when I went to modify some settings.
I ditched the old stuff, and put on kiwi. So now the 'Chat' link at the top should actually work for those who just want to ask a question, bs, whatever and don't really IRC.
Just scroll down on the chat page, put in a nickname (preferably something along the lines of your forum name), and connect. Easy enough.
