Since I've come back to EQ, I've not used warp or zone very much because I've become too attached to my account to risk losing it.

Does anyone warp or zone frequently still? Is the only risk still a player seeing you? Is /zone safer than warp in terms of the server catching you?

I want to guess that warping more than once every few seconds isn't safe, server wise?

Im stupid enough to never zone normally , or run anwhere. Ive never had a GM speak to me

players are pretty brazen with it on CT server. I know some will warp right in front of others and a few others have been called out.

Be smart people and don't abuse it.

I am on the Drinal server and when I want to warp or zone some where I hide behind a building or a big ass rock so no one will see me. But I do a / <enter> to see who all is in zone and I watch my GM watch. Been doing it for a while but never been taked to about it

Do not warp from in front of people
Do not warp to in front of people
Do not warp with a lot of people in zone
Do not issue a /zone in front of people

Hiding before you warp is typically good but it does nothing to combat the douch bag MQ2 users who do 90% of the reporting.

if u haven't been warping alot no reason to start now. i dont even use warp no more unless im in a instance all by my lone some and thats rare most time id rather kill to where im going.

seems like its pretty safe to warp around tho cause ive seen the same ass tards doing it all over the place on my server in front of everyone and they aint been banned/suspended.

good way to find out who the ass tards are on your server go to fos and watch ur map lol.

Maybe warp needs to be limited to instances and such. I can not believe the stupidity/brazeness of some of these people.

It can be tracked, but only if they need to.
When Hulcror was a big GK target, they went back and looked to see how the mob died and who got the item. Someone was caught in the sweep because the log showed they passed through the zone. I don't remember the official response, but it was something like "traversing terrain at an impossible speed". He /zoned from another zone, and since you technically zone each zone along the way, the blinking in and out shows up.

i use /warp and /zone all the time. Least once a day i am in pok and while running i'll do /zone. I dont use them much though.

Using MQ2 for 4 years nearly. Only banned once, and that was GK.
All my other accounts i used warp/zone etc all the time. Just use abit of common sence, if in PoK, run into a TS building or something and close the door. Just outta sight, outta Mind. :)

I couldnt agree more.....I never warp with anyone in the zone and I rarely /zone.

I don't know, i used to not warp, now i do. I can't really see any danger any it. If i didn't warp my enchanters 1.0 would have been a huuuuge pain in the ass. So i will say that the rewards overcome the risks.

Hmm

I'm an ass tard and I warp quite a bit, same with zone. I usually do not do more than 2 /zones though at once, also NEVER /zone through pok, you pop up at the port in for a second or so i've heard. But warping in FoS, I do not do, that is completely retarded.... I just have my bard box put on selo's song of travel. =)

JJ basically hit the nail on the head. Its not SOE you need to worry about but other players and ESPECIALLY MQ2ers.

If your very conscientious about doing shit near ANY other PCs your chances of ever getting a ban/susp are minimal.

Good thread. I'll probably start warping again on occasion. It's just too convenient not to.

For /zoning in pok, I normally run to any stone and /zone while facing teh stone. /shrug...

I also tend to be anon or role most of the time to prevent people from watching me on /who.

I normally only zone one zone at a time (may sound silly). Basically I'll zone into the next zone, wait a minute, or whatever, and then /zone again. That way, if anyone is watchign me and I'm not anon/role, I'm not going too incredibly fast.

I also like to use /speed to increase my travel without makin it crazy noticeable (I don't get stupid and hit like /speed 2.0 or anything).

Warping I reserve for almost never. If I'm in an unpopulated zone then I might warp, or if I'm with a group of friends and we're all on the same page. Outside of that, since most o the shit in SoD doesn't see invis, I just run places.

Also if you do chain zone I recommend binding yourself in some obscure spot in PoK so when you pass thru there you wont pop in right in front of GH.

I warp a bunch of times, but I follow the basic outline that JJ list above.

Just don't be stupid about it

I don't use /zone at all, I've been known to /gate though just because I'm too lazy to memorize gate.

Speed

The guy above mentioned using speed. I use speed constantly. I believe the key is to make sure you don't exceed bard speed (267 for a bard with all AA). So if you keep your speed below 250, you should be ok.

I am able to test my speed by targeting my self, and using my HUD info to show me my own speed at that point.

Just my 2 cents. :)

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the thread about warping...

I really thought MQ2 was used be a very small percentage of the community until FoS came around. When the bone quests could be done over and over again, people would warp as soon as the bones spawned. Now people just warp to the named, sometimes waiting at the zone in from PoTime, and warping from there.

Always makes me want to steer clear of there.
