Bodybuilding

Honestly my goal was 220. Im guessing you think that would be scrawney...

Oh and I am worried about skin issues with weight loss, any pointers? Diet Master JJ

You could walk around at 225 but you would have stretch marks because of current size. 250 range you wont really notice them that much and your dick will grow a good 2 inches. Not really but will appear too. From 250 you can re evaluate what you want to really look like and you could drop down to 225 if you wanted to be leaner.

As for diet, lots of power foods, and 1 day a week have the good shit that is just unhealthy.

I am thinking about trying to trim down to 205 but I really think with my frame I would look anorexic. Ill take a picture later today or tomorrow. Those who are working out should post pics with what they are lifting. Gives a better idea

LOL @ the two inches comment.

Is there anything I can do about stretchmarks?

Have to ask the ladies on that, pregnancy tends to cause them. Some lotions claim to help them, if you don't drop instantly but a gradually it should stop them from being bad. Skin is elastic so it will tighten back up normally unless its over stretched and weak already.

I used to be hardcore about lifting...then I just got plum lazy. Not fat atm...just not as hard and ripped as I once was. Got to myself back in gear because the days to lift with my son will be upon me before I know it. I didn't get out of shape overnight so a little bit at a time.

I added a pic of what I once was like. 22.5 biceps 6'3 265 in that pic. Atm I hovering around 18' biceps and a soft 250.

/thread derail!

buffed isn't always better, toned is normally a woman's preference, not bulging huge muscles....just food for thought ;)

As for stretch marks, which can not only happen in pregnancy but in anything that causes the skin to stretch, even exercise!

Unfortunately there is no magic cream to get rid of them, however they will fade in time.

JJ, what do you know about loose skin? Do you think ill have an issue?

True that Alex...I am gonna take my fast ass running 4 days a week. I would like to ideally be 225 and as ripped as my diet will allow. Diet is my sticking point right. When my wife got pregnant...I got pregnant. I haven't been able to curb my cravings. Diet is definitely going to be my biggest challenge.

Don't drop 50 pounds in a month. As I said your skin is elastic it will shrink as you shrink or grow as you grow. Steady diet alone will get you down in weight and avoid skin issues. Add in a workout nothing big just a good aerobic work out and a little light lifting will increase the drop. Coco butter will also help as its high in the stuff the skin needs to stay healthy.

Just don't start taking 30 different diet pills and drop ass load of weight in a month.

Agree heavily with whats been stated about the weight loss dude.
JJ mentioned Coconut butter, i know alot of pregnant women rub this on daily to help avoid stretchmarks.
Definatly worth a look in, but the best option by far is to drop the weight over a slightly extended period, using products like the one posted on here a couple months back,ALLI, which cause you to loose the weight very rapid, will cause the stretch marks. As JJ said, your skin is elastic, it will adapt, but slowly, dropping 50lbs in 2 weeks is nice, looking like skinny fat-bastard isnt preferable.

good diet and make sure you dont loose the weight too fast, and you'll be fine.

That wouldn't be a bad place for me to be at all

How tall are you?

How does losing about 80-90lbs in a 5-6month period sound?

80-90 of 5 months would be fine. I shaved 40 in 3 months just recently.

A lot of losing weight has to do with diet. Yes exercise counts but like 20%. Diet is the other 80% I will post some pictures but I actually had lap-band surgery to help with my severe eating disorder, and the weight has been coming off slow and steady and there are stretch marks but the skin is tight. If that makes any sense at all. I am young(only 21) but the elasticity of the skin is relatively good until say late thirties; early forties. Even then it will shrink, but not as much. If your trying to lose weight do not worry about lifting heavy, because all that will do is cause muscle fibers to become more dense and you will bulk up. You want to go higher reps and lower weight so that it is more for toning/firming. If your having trouble fighting off hunger; eat more protein. Protein causes satiety much longer then carbohydrates do. Also make sure your eating complex carbohydrates(whole grain) because if you eat simple sugars/carbs(white bread/sweets) it will cause insulin levels to boost in your blood which causes your body to store fat. I went off on some tangents but anyway, any questions feel free to ask. I am down from 315 to 220 with my body fat % from 54% to 27% now.

**•• apologies, typed from phone ••**

The only horror stories i hear are people not lifting correctly, or people trying to lift too heavy and show off. It's one of the best compound lifts you can do IMO. Clean and jerk is very good also, I don't train with snatch, gym (Jim?) isn't big enough for me to attempt throwing weight over my head.

Some nice weights there guys, what sizes are you? I'm 6'5" and 115kg (240lbs)

Are we still talking about weight lifting here or gay porn? I am confused.

very, very good post, thanks a ton for some healthy info

Since so many are working towards weight loss goals, maybe you should host a biggest loser contest and do a nice reward, before and afters required, with a specific timeline :p

I'm at a steady 240-245 right now and I'm 6'2ish.., dropped from 260ish in about a month and a half to 2 months, been trying to tone up but my mid section doesn't seem to be having any ofit, lol...any pointers as to what I can do to tone my mid section? I've been trying leg lifts (laying on my back with a rolled up towel under my tail bone for some lift from the ground) and it seems to be burning and all that but not toning up hardly at all, can tell some slight results but nothing really.. I'm not exactly on the healthiest diet due to where I work (Manager at McDonald's LOL). Friend of mine did use P90X and he went from 310ish to about 245-250 and almost all muscle now, very cut and defined, I thought about trying that but I don't have the $120 to spend on it, would much rather do it the cheap and OLD FASHINOED way...lol since im cheap like that...so, my question is..I need some home workouts that can be done without weights or anything, strictly "jail house style" stuff...here is a picture of me taken a lil bit ago, my arms used to be 18.3inches while I was playing football in high school (I've never been a small guy, at all). Tonight they measured at 15.10 inches (ugh)...Any advice is well taken, weather it be workouts, diets or whatever...

@ Mori - Unfortunatly you cant just loose weight in a certain area of your body ! :(
You'll need to just cut out alot of carbs, stop eating bread, unless its for breakfast, dont eat after around 7pm, (later if your a night owl, just give it 3hours or so before bed) If you eat Pasta and Rice, make sure its brown. Oh yea, and small portions, but eat 5-6times a day, this gives your body the most oppertune circumstances to burn your bodyfat, eating 2 massive meal a day is too much in a short period, your body doesnt need it all, so whats left gets 'stored'.

From the pic you look like your a big guy, and not one of the skinny toned guys. This unfortunatly makes Abs for you even harder, naturally skinny guys only need to tone their abs with a few situps, leg raises and V-sits. For bigger guys you actually need to build your Abs up. This means weighted crunches.
Alot of gyms (uk) have a crunch machine, which is great, stack up the weight and go, but you said jail-house-style. My best recommendation is to do crunches at home, but just hold a weight on your chest, doesnt have to be much, start with 5kg and work up :)

*Edit*

You mentioned p90x, a quick google search said this is a 90day home training kit. My honest recommendation here is, these are all bullcrap. If your not motivated without it, you wont be motivated with it. You said a friend has it, and it worked, ask to check out the DVD's, they'll most likely be repeating things you already know, just in super-dummy-language.

*edit2*

Here are download links to the DVD sets. These arnt hosted by me, but let me know if the links go dead and i'll see if i can find new ones.
