I highly recommend this game =)

I didn't see any rules against it, so I'm going for the gold. If anyone hasn't tried League of Legends (free) and is thinking about it, make sure you join through someone's referral link (preferably mine :]). If your "summoner profile" gets to level 10, the referrer gets a successful referral, where he/she gets rewards.

ABOUT League of Legends
League of Legends is a FREE RTS, created by two of the original creators of Defense of the Ancients (an immensely popular custom map for warcraft 3:ft). They teamed up with (blizzard?) programmers to create the game over several years. It is strongly in the fashion of DotA, but has improvements (which I approve of). Though I didn't think it possible, I actually enjoy it more than DotA. The UI is wonderful--it runs in very high resolution, and the controls are splendid =)

pretty cool game i hate that you cant choose same champions if someone else grabs it first

Yea, as much as I like playing my half-dozen favorite champions, It's nice to be forced to play a new one. Besides, I know enough now to be able to choose one even if the other 4 choose my favorites.

Here is an explanation of runes and masteries.
As you level up, you get access to 4 types of rune slots. You can buy runes with IP, which you gain from winning games. Runes are divided into 3 tiers of how good they are. I suggest saving up your IP until level 10 to buy runes, as you can get T2 runes, which are slightly more powerful.

There are 4 rune types. Some, like Glyphs(blue), are good for mana regen and AP, whileas others, like Marks (red), are good for Crit Chance and Armor Penetration. You should pay attention to which stats prefer which rune type, as buying Glyphs (castery runes) that have critical strike, isn't a good idea. A mark might have 1% crit chance, while a glyph has .42% crit chance.

There are also masteries, which are like talents on wow. They have useful bonuses like, decrease use time on teleport, increased experience, increased damage, decreased damage taken..etc. You gain mastery points as you level, and can reassign them as much as you like.

I gave this game another shot last night, I keep feeling like maybe I'm missing something.

It still feels like a 99 cent app on my droid. I can't get entertained by it for more than 10 minutes. Love RTSs and MMORPGs, so I thought it would be a fit, but meh.
