Random crashes

Aye same here....sometimes it just shuts down EQ completely. I have run the Update about 40 times always getting error Cannot Write libeat32.dll So the loader refuses to finish. Funny part is I have done 4 updates prior to the 23rd with no problems. I have even deleted, uninstalled, etc still same problem :(

Having the same issue here myself on ly laptop. I've had my druid logged in on the desktop, either following me around or afk, for DAYS. (I can't two-box on 512 RAM lol) she's running an old compile because i've just been too lazy to update it when she never logs off... (will get info up here when I get home later), but my main toon is the one that is CONSTANTLY crashing. 4-5 times a night. Other guildies and friends have been having the same issue. Some insist they're not using any hacks at all, though they're fine with us using them. Had a guildy unload his mq and restart when he crashed, he was running w/o mq and he still crashed.

I do have a custom hud though that i've carried with me through quite a few compiles, and i haven't loaded it on the 2nd machine yet. I'll post that later if that'll help.

*sigh*

ok ive been haveing crashes as well since the last big eq patch and ive got the dec 31st compile and its a sudden crash if im sitting in hall all of a sudden boom i crash then if i camp out after sitting afk awhile it will crash and im running xp home edition any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks for the info so far kalyndrah. Could you take a look at the problem template (at the bottom of the first post in the official compile thread), and also provide the rest of the info? You do have a couple of outdated plugins there, but I esp. need to know which ones you are actually using when the crash occurs.

Also, if you could provide any detail (or examples) of where/what/how a crash happens, what class/race/level you are playing, etc. Any additional info might help me to find your issue, since I use the 12/31 compile and keep chars logged in for many many hours without issue (unless I do something *test* on purpose to crash it, HAHA).

Use the problem reporting template at the bottom of the first post in the official compile thread.

Thanks.

Having random crashes as well and this is with the bare minimum plugins loaded, I'm not even on the screens they just random crash for no reason, no macro running nothing.

Since the last new zip if i use my old _.ini for melee with the downflags and holyflags i crash to desktop. If i load default melee there is no issue. Hope i can post correctly forgive me if I don't and your help is allways apprecited.

I was crashing a lot starting about 3 weeks ago. I unloaded MQ2Melee and MQ2DoCrack and now I never crash.

I was using the default MQ2Melee.ini. I had recently started using MQ2Melee which is why I disabled it. I felt it must have had something to do with the crashes. I had also added a couple of cracks to my list, so I just disabled that plugin as well.

I use a custom UI but I switched to default and the crashes were still happening.

I do run 6 toons on 1 computer so this may also have something to do with it. But I can run all 6 without a problem now.

I will post more later, but here's some info for now.

Here are the cracks I was using:

Looks like i might have fixed my issues no ctd yet. I just added the Holyflags and Downflags to the default ini which deleted cursor and added default docrack window info. Perhaps the problem was with Cursor?

So far this is working.

I'm not running cursor and still having the random crashes, i purposely unloaded everything possible and still have the crashes.

What OS is everyone using btw that is crashing? Looks like I may be only crashing on my xp 64bit

Edit: did some more testing, unloaded MQ2 and still getting random crashes with the EQlive client, now I'm trying with sound turned off in the options just a hunch will post when/if i find out more.

Crashes

I have also had some crashes that last few months. I find I crash mostly when I give items to guild Trib, or try and mem new spells or Disiplines. Tried meming new spells on a shammy, wiz, war and zerker same problem... crash after meming 3 or 4 spells in a row.

Thanks for verifying Swazafix. I wish more people would. I do follow the eqlive forums, and have seen complaints of crashing issues, so it does make it hard to help, when people assume it is MQ2 causing their crash and do not verify it.

For example, so far, any given information I have when trying to duplicate a crash, I can't find any issue (can't get mine to crash).

I left a monk macro'ing + mq2melee last night for about 6 hours, for example, and no issue. That's with 103 plugins loaded. The same with a wizard, which I ran doing some kiting, and various other stuff, again, no crash.

I'm not blowing anyone off, just that like I have said before, if I can't duplicate an issue, even given having far more plugins loaded & as close a configuration with MQ2 to them as possible, I have to assume it is just EQ. Even if I *did* assume it was MQ2, I can't fix what I can't find.

Thanks again for verifying, and good luck.

Ive been having CTD's recently , on my vista 64. Its definately an EQ problem as it does it without MQ2 loaded. I get to char select , enter world , and crash. Its rather annoying when it does it coz it takes about 20 mins for it to sort itself out and let me in lol

Even with the new option of kicking yourself off of the servers when you log back in? I have crashed a couple of times and have used the kick option to be back online within minutes.

If you do get a random crash, the .dmp file in eqdir/logs comes in handy sometimes for figuring out what the crash was caused by. However, sometimes it doesn't help.

After some more testing thanks to forced time off, was having same type and frequency of crash just hanging out in the GL or GH catching up with friends while I did housework, mq not loaded. =D

Yeah I have a PoS computer, but i've learned how to work with what i have, so it's not a hardware issue as nothing has changed on my end.

I'm gonna go with NOT MQ's fault! /cheer

I just wanted to put in my 2 cents worth on this post in case it might help someone later. /shrug.

See y'all in game.

More testing done, and still getting crashes even with MQ2 and sound both off. I have suspicions of lack of drivers updated. I updated everything, was at my wits end and flashed bios with Asus Updater and it crashed while flashing and fried my bios. Went out and bought a new motherboard that kicked my lasts ones ass and finally got it all updated and running both a 32bit copy and a 64bit copy. Going to run EQ tonight and see if I get any crashes.

Yeh , cause it crashes again
