Ok I'm not 100% sure if this dealing with MQ2 or just eq but I've had it happen much more frequently while using MQ2 than when not.

Since the last patch I have been having random crashes a LOT. When I say a lot I mean on average once each hour. And they are truely completely random, I can have a character afk doing absolutely nothing and it will crash but another character running on the same computer in the background or in the foreground does not crash while busy running a macro.

I cannot find a common occurence to narrow down the cause so decided to post for some help.

My setup:
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit
Dual HD 4850 Radeons
Intel Quad Core 3.0ghz CPU
8gb PC2 1200 Memory

Now I know many of you are probably going to immediately post and say Vista is the problem but I'm 99.9% sure it is not vista. I am in fact a computer tech and I might have had one crash every 5 to 10 days before the last patch. Nothing else on my system has changed other than the last eq and mq2 patch.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I'm having the same issue as well running XP. All I've noticed is that running a macro doesnt seem to be my issue at all. I usually run 1-3 accounts on a single comp and dont use any viewport or eqwindows type programs. When I have a crash, its always the first account loaded and doesnt matter if its running a macro or not. I wish I could say wether or not its a mq issue, but I dont usually run EQ anymore w/o mq loaded since I've gotten so used to the maps and being able to see whats up in zone

PHP:
It dosn't really give an error message, just the dialog saying macroquest2 is blocking everquest from sending crash information blah blah blah.

Thats the only thing I have ever seen when it crashes.

Oh yeah I guess I should also mention it does this on three different computers upon further testing. One running vista ultimate 64, one vista ultimate 32, one vista home professional.

And it's almost as if it happens more when a character is idle than when it's not. Although sometimes I can relate it to a specific event, like I've had it happen more than once when opening an in game browser, sorting a list in bazaar window, opening legends of norrath, and tons of times when zoning. It does happen sometimes when I'm just running through an area or fighting (without using macros) but not nearly as often as the other times or while a character is sitting there idle.

Provide us with some more information, at the least:
- Character class
- Custom UI in use
- Docracks active
- Plugins loaded

the_great_one, you should first update to the Oct 13th compile, and see if your issue continues. You are running the Oct 11th compile. If you continue to have issues, please post info as requested of devestator above.

htw

Will do htw. I just updated to the 13th compile, at least I thought thats what I was running from off of the main page. As for any messages, its just a client crash and nothing other than "everquest.exe has detected a client crash" or something simliar. I'll note it when/if it happenes again.

Character Class... take your pick lol it happens on any and all of my chracters
The ones I've been on most recently include, mage, cleric, shaman, monk, ranger, wizard, warrior

Custom UI... yes and no have tried running without my custom ui with the same results

Docracks active - none unless its on by default I never turn any on or off

Plugins loaded - This is a copy and paste of my /plugin list with my char named removed of course =P

This is really getting annoying almost to the point where I'm going to have to stop using mq because of it. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing it? Is there any way for me to force a log file of eq or mq to see what the error is that is actually causing the crash?

Just had it happen again while I was simply running through the guild lobby ... highly annoying becaue the group crap is so buggy right now for one thing and takes forever for it to fnally kick me out the game so I can log back in. Plus if I have a pet out its bugged so that pets poof when you ld right now lol.

I was hoping to dupe your problem, but unfortunately, I was not able to so far. I set up a macroquest.ini with the plugins you have loaded, started up MQ2, then EQ & logged in a char (wiz). Ported a few places, ran around POK, back into guild lobby, then guild hall, and then hit secondary recall to go to bind spot in build lobby. Went AFK. That was at about 2am.

I worked the rest of the night, slept all day (been feeling like shit, which is probably why I just slept 15 hours), and just woke up.

My wiz is still standing AFK in guild lobby.

What version of video drivers are you using? Do you use WinEQ2 or Innerspace? Do you overclock your system at all? What temp is your GPU & CPU/cores when the crash happens?

Thanks for any more info.

I doubt it's a problem with any hardware in my system since it did not start till after the last patch but just in case I ran the monitoring software on my main computer and I just crashed again a couple of minutes ago while in the middle of typing out a tell to someone.. nothing spetacular going on around me no other people nearby nothing really changing around me just sitting in a cave near some stationary mobs.

My GPUs are at 65c and my CPU, the highest core is at 48c the others are at 36c which makes sense since EQ only uses one core.

I'm using catalyst 8.522 and have been using this version for a little over a month without any problems before the last patch.

It seriously getting frustrating since I cannot find any common item that would cause all of the crashes besides MQ. As I said before I run this on 3 different computers and it happens on all 3. Some days I'll go 6 to 8 hours without a crash, and then I'll crash 4 times in 20 minutes.

There has got to be some way to get some error reports on crashes so that I can determine what the actual error is when it crashes. That would help loads on figuring out how to fix it. If MQ is capable of detecting a crash report and blocking it, it shoudl be capable of reading and displaying that report, I'm willing to bet contained within the report would be an error message.

If I thought for a second it was something in my system causing the problem I would reformat to a clean drive and try from there, but as I said with it happening on 3 seperate systems, one that is practically a clean format since I havn't really done much on it since I built it other than install EQ and box on it, I dont think it is anything on my system.

EDIT:

Also I guess I should mention I can have two accounts running in the same zone in the same area and one will crash and the other will not. So whatever is causing it, it is not guaranteed to happen everytime it happens.

I'm going to try to do a completely clean install of EQ tonight to see if it helps out any but I'm not holding out much hope.

dont forget a complete clean install of MQ2 as well. if loader has an uninstall function use that if not make sure to remove it from registry. Sucks but when you re install MQ2 dont use custom INIs use stock ones.

Hi

I sent you a PM like 3 days ago to send me your debug dump file so i can debug it on my machine and see if it reveals the cause.

Also, make sure you've got the latest graphics drivers. The crash file didn't produce any useful information other than there is a chance it might be graphics related. The crash originated in the windows libraries so it didn't look like something specifically MQ2 (from what I could tell)

Not surprised. ;)

Since I posted, and on htw's advice to update my compile, I havent had a single crash. Perhaps mine was just a 2 day old compile? I'll post again if I have another problem. Thank you all for your hard work.

I ran eq for the last 10 hours without MQ loaded without a single crash. Zoned probably 20 times, afk for about 5 hours during it. Load up MQ and within 45 minutes had my first crash, 30 minutes after that my second.

You say the crash dump looks like it originated in Windows libraries, I'd be surprised if you told me MQ didn't use a single windows library. If nothing else I'm sure he mmobug loader uses some.

I don't know what it is but 10 hours versus less than an hour twice seems like to big of a coincedence to me, but hey anything is possible.

I checked my graphics drivers and they got me a litle confused I'm gonna update them to be safe but my drivers says version 8.522 yet ATI's website (where I downloaded them at) say the newest version is 8.10 And I'm positive I didn't download beta drivers so not sure whats going on there.

without being able to reproduce the problem it is very unlikely that the cause will be found.

Are you doing anything in particular when the game crashes? Are you afk from your computer while your character is sitting idle, and you come back and it is crashed?

Narrow down what plugin might be causing the crash by unloading plugins until you don't get the crash anymore.

Don't know what else to say. This isn't reproducing for anybody else so the problem is likely in a plugin you are using that nobody else is, or a configuration on your end that is different from what other people have.

Im having the exact same problem as well.Every time its happened ive had 3 accounts up on wineq. With me its always the last account that crashes. If i try to log again, crashes almost instantly on game entry.Have to unload mmo + wineq. Then its ok for a while again...until next crash

I have vista 64,radeon 4870 graphic card
