Having never tried any EQ Emu until this wretched SOE downtime, I am feeling like a newb trying to get it to work... so, be gentle with me if this thread makes me sound REALLY dumb!

So I follow the directions and get to the screen that looks like server select but with all the emu servers (P99 etc).
But, I don't understand at all why all I get is a black screen after the "server" select window...
I'm assuming I have the wrong client version since everything installed on my comp is from "real" EQ (HoT etc)?

So, if I were to "find" a way to DL the Titanium or SoF versions... how do I install those without totally fubar-ing my "real" EQ files?

Yes, I'm aware this probably makes me sound clueless (newsflash - I kinda am!)

Cleric needs EQ fix ASAP - help!

Oh- and anyone able to help me FIND a Titanium version? Willing to buy it but no sense if I have to wait like 2 weeks, real EQ might actually be back by then!

Edit: Go ahead and uninstall Everquest, and torrent it (its free). Then get it up. I did that. And when eq comes back up delete that eq and restore your old one ;).

EverQuest doesn't technically need to be installed - just shortcuts ran from wherever you put all the files (to everquest.exe, eq.exe, or eqgame.exe). Station Launcher also, of course.

On my test system, I have 5 copies available (that are 'installed' by each EQ version installer, along with loader/mq2 files).

For where to get the different releases, depends on if you want to pay anything, and how fast you want to get it.

Titanium boxed releases, whether through amazon member links, or ebay, etc. are going to cost more, simply due to them being sold by idiots.

At least one link for digital download for $20 for SOD: http://www.gamestop.com/pc/games/everquest-seeds-of-destruction/73038

SOF on ebay for $13 + $4 shipping: http://cgi.ebay.com/EVERQUEST-SECRE...8372?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item20b8ea2dd4

Underfoot on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/24180/?snr=1_7_suggest__13

A link for downloading Titanium: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3894156/EverQuest_Titanium

That should give you enough to start, as far as how/where to find it for download, or to buy it.

Another option is the Underfoot release from Steam. Check emu server forums for how well the client works. I tested on EZ Server with it when doing the MQ2 release, and seemed fine to me, but I never checked on p1999 - I only tested SOF & Titanium clients on that sever.

Whichever version you get, after you install it, NEVER run everquest.exe or eq.exe. In fact, your best bet is to delete these from your EQ install for any emu client version you are using: everquest.exe, eq.exe, testeverquest.exe.

To summarize:
- Download or purchase your version of EQ (Titanium, SOF, SOD, UF).
- Install your version of EQ.
- Delete everquest.exe, eq.exe, testeverquest.exe, and any desktop or menu shortcuts the installer made to it.
- Create a shortcut to your installed version, to run "eqgame.exe patchme"
- Install the proper version of MQ2 from our downloads, for whichever client you used.
- Grab any of a few files from the server you want to play on. EZ Server has like 2 I think, p1999 has 4 or 5, etc. Just unzip them into your intstalled directory, overwriting what's already there (I suggest saving the original files before overwriting, such as rename them to .backup, copy them somewhere, or whatever).
- If you haven't created a 'login server' account on eqemulator.org, then make one.
- Run the emu MQ2 mmoloader link.
- Run your eqgame.exe link.
- Log in, create toon, and play!

I think that should about summarize what you need.
