The trick to getting around the check on original ownership is to let the account billing expire.

For example, say you just acquired an account from someone else and the previous had a credit or pre-paid card listed as the payment source on the account. Before the end of the current billing cycle, go to (formerly their, now) your My Station account via the EQ website and remove that card as a payment source on that account. At the start of the next billing cycle, the account will close due to lack of payment.

Remember your characters and their banks do not disappear when your billing in cancelled.

Now, let the account close due to lack of payment source. Wait for at least one more full billing cycle to complete, and then re-activate the account. This time, provide YOUR billing information (your credit or pre-paid card, not the billing information from the previous account owner).

Once you're listed with SOE as the new "original" account owner in their billing system, you can transfer any characters on that account to any other accounts you're listed with SOE as being the owner of.

It seems the only way is cancel subscription, so i'm guessing thats it.

Has anyone tried this method before?

Did it work?

Change Registration Information

So you have an account that you want to transfer a character from, but you're not the original owner. No problem. Stop paying for it and let the account expire. How long does it take to expire? That depends on how long you paid for. If you paid for 1 month, you'll have to wait for that month to be up. If you paid for 1 year, you have to wait for that year to be up. When account expires, you will attempt to log on and it will ask you to re-subscribe. Fill out the forms, put in your credit card, billing address, and so on, and then you'll be set. Feel free to transfer characters between accounts; do name changes, or whatever else sony believes a second-hand account holder shouldn't do. Rumor has it both accounts must have same expansions, but this has not be thoroughly tested.

There must be something i am missing. I have a second account, I went in and cancelled the account. I waited for that month to be up and tha account closed. I waited for another full billing cycle to go by, bacically I waited one full month after the account closed. Then I resubscribed, and after that tried to put in a transfer and they replied I was not orihinal owner.

I don't understand if there is a special set of circumstances for this to work or if I was just unliucky or what.

There could be a problem here. Which account did you cancel and wait for a month? The account you're moving to or the account you're moving from.
I do believe that both accounts must be registered to original owner with the same registration information and such.

Ok, heres what I have.

Account number one: I am the original owner.

Account number two: I am not the original owner.

Account number two I cancelled, waited for it to end, waited a full month more with it closed, then I registered it with my information as the guide says. I tried moving a character from it to account number one and they reply I am not the original owner of both accounts. I even made sure they both have same expansions.

If this guide works there must be some details I am not getting. The second guide there says to try and log in and then go to the page of account number two and register, does it make a difference if you do that or just go to the page to register?

Or maybe, if I have paid on account one with more than one of my credit cards..could it be that I would need to try and move the character from account two to an account that was created with the exact same card as I register account number two with?

There is a good chance that sony may have fixed this.

I know these guides are more than 6 months old.

I'll try and keep digging up more information for you.

I am currently trying this but moving a character from an account that is not mine to a diff server. Basicly did everything as above plus made sure the account had all my info and secret question changed. I got a reply within a few min of the character transfer service request was put in with a (denied) email and to put in a ticket or someting about it.. and I put a ticket in asking if my CC declined, waiting to hear back today and see what they tell me.

Well..

Due to the strict guidelines for Character Moves, we regret to inform you that we are unable to process your character transfer request for the following reason(s):

After reviewing the account(s) involved, we have found conflicting billing and/or registration entries. For the character(s) to be moved as requested, you will need to verify ownership of the account(s) by providing some information.

Please provide the owner name(s) and the first and last 4 digits of each billed credit card in the history of the account(s) and the original CD keys. At that time, we will further evaluate your transfer request. To ensure your request is processed efficiently, please respond back with this information through e-mail so we can reprocess your request.

SOE/Verant reserves the right to deny any attempted request to transfer in its sole and absolute discretion for any reason or no reason.

Again, we will not be able to process your claim, but if you are able to correct the reason for denial, while staying within the Character Move Guidelines and Restrictions, please reply and we will be happy to process your request.

-- Anyone know how I can get around this, like email them with some story or something..

So the secret question doesnt apply?

It seems this is either based on luck or has been nerfed.

Quote from ******, they are having a thread on the exact same problem (i see you bob :D )

It's all bot driven. All they do is verify the email addresses for both accounts match, if the character exists on the account requesting the change, and if the expansions of both accounts in question are equal.

That's IT.

My buddy had a toon moved to his main account from an account he was BORROWING from a buddy. His buddy was still paying on it for christ sake.

The moved the toon as soon as the credit card charge cleared.

I'll keep you informed if they find anything.

I have noticed 2 things.

There is two pages you can update your registration info at, one on the sony store page and one that you get to from the subscription page. If you use the store page one....it doesn't update the curent email address, but if you use the subscription one it sends you the 'updated' registration email.

https://login.station.sony.com/logi...s://eqbl.station.sony.com/launchpad/index.jsp

https://login.station.sony.com/logi...https://store.station.sony.com/my_account.jsp

Second thing I noticed is after messing with the above, the email addresses in my account history have changed to mine on all or most of the transactions, even the ones that list other names and addresses.

I think, if its not nerfed, there maybe some very specific circumstances that make it get past the BOT.

From Someone Who Has Xfer'd Non-Original Owner Toons

The only thing sony checks is the previous 3 months billing information.

I have purchased several toons that were not my own and changed all billing information and payment to my information. After 3 months of billing I put in for the character transfer and have had ZERO problems.

Trying to move a toon also.

I am trying to move one of my toons to a new server also, and got the msg. that billing info conflicted from the BOT.
Someone else had said that the BOT only looks at the last 3 months billing enteries. Or does it check just the last 3 billed purchase's.
So, if I make 3 seperate purchases, thus creating a billing history that matches my registration and current billing address, email and CC#, shouldn't this work?
Any thoughts b 4 I try.

-Thanks

something interesting

I just purchased DOD from server select screen, for an account I just bought. I had only one billing cycle in my name so far. The screen says I can bill my credit card on file as long as I have valid billing account listed. It then checks and came back saying, "Valid billing could not be determined", and I have to goto SOE store and make my purchase. Then purchase goes thru fine. So, maybe this is a good way to tell b4 u wanna do a toon transfer, if the BOT will accept your billing info on file.
I will try buying something next month, and c what happens -
