Any information on this encounter?

Especially with regards to the order of killing things.

Seems all fat dumb and happy to 50, then projection/main locked in HP and everything slows down *drastically*

- at start just deal with Venom Lord

- every 150 seconds (not 100% sure tho) - after you engaged - you will get 1 Protector and 1 Spiritist ADD in each "small room". (2 rooms down and 3 rooms up the ramp). So you should have ppl ready to engage the rooms every pop and kill the Protector and then the Spiritists to "stop the ritual" unless you want Venom Lord power up and AE more frequently. 1 Group per room is enough. As far as i remember neither protectors or spiritists summon, so this might help you to deal with them.

- when Venom Lord reaches 50%, he will "split" and you have to deal with 2 Venom Lords! Note you have to balance them within 3% or they heal up.

- also you get some other trash from time to time (3-4 adds per wave). They charging you from the entrance of the room, so have your knights ready. Kill them off when there are no protectors and spiritists up.

only thing im 100% sure on this is dont cure a gd thing :) get a nasty ae dd if ya do :) so i just sit there and spam my tanks and look at the wall otherwise bud

When starting you can pin Venom Lord at the left or right just inside the doorway entering into the room.

This allows you a excellent corner to pin for DPS if your guild isn't all that great at circle pinning in the center of the room or wall pinning on the back ramp. This also allows you to set all your healers up in the hallway behind the door to hide from the AE's he gives off. Finaly, this forces the add spawns to pop one level down from this entrence doorway allowing you to force them through your add tank team for ease in offtanking / killing.

Id reccomend killing the two red cons while kiting the bluecon, they are low hps and hit hard depending on your offtank capability and AC. 3 tanks and 2 healers should be sufficent. The adds come at 65%, 40% and 10%

Do not cure, no cleric shields, nothing. a cured player DD's the raid. Eat the DoT's

At roughly 75% The 5 rooms will spawn with protectors / spiritualists. The protectors keep you from damageing the spiritualists which "suicide" around 70 seconds after the "arise" emote. They give their power to the Projection that spawns at 50% enableing higher mele damage and nasty Dots. The idea here is to kill the Protectors and the Spiritualists within the 70 seconds to keep the Projection from powering up.

A trick to use here is to kill your Protectors down to 10% using caster DPS ignoring the first round. The protectors do not summon, and will not reset, when the snakes respawn your protectors will remain at 10% allowing a fast kill, allowing you to one shot the snakes and begin the dps cycle again without worry of falling behind.

The rest of the fight is a simple balence fight every 3 - 5% till won.

How many people in each room should you leave behind? and should they all be casters?

VL

When our guild does VL, we completely ignore the rooms all together and jsut burn hard. were not a very high dps guild - so we just deal with the AEs.. with that being said that makes the fight alot less complicated.. we pin the VL in the corner by the doorway - and have a full burn until 50% - at which point ALL dps backs off, and we bring the projection to the door way and pin in the opposite corner.. then we splt the dps, and call out %s on both mobs, and adjust accordingly so both are balanced.. Also NO ONE SHOULD BE USEING ANY CURES AT ALL --- CURE will get your raid hurt alot more then the cure will help... have clerics bag their shields, no AE heals with cure effects.. no shm wards.... ect ect.. CUREs ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND!!!

as for the adds, they pop at 70% , 50% and 10%... we usuing have 3 knights on go into that hallway where they pop, and tag them... we bring the kyv in and kill him right away, while the bird and the ugly guy(ra'tuk?) get kited. once the kyv dies, we kill the bird, and then the "ugly" after him.. finaly when the last wave of adds comes at 10% we kite all 3 of the adds til the VL/VP are dead, and we clean them up at the end.... note the if u pin the bossmobs in the corner of the door way, pay attention when ur bringing the adds in that you dont lose aggro on them. its a good idea to have people clear off the stairs at the %s that the adds pop. also please note the "ugly guy" can be snared, and i hear he can also be charmed for some extra dps as well... we never charm him because of the risk of him breaking charm and killing off dps/healers or even an unsuspecting tank..

hope that all makes sence, and is helpful -- i think the biggest help for us, was ignoring the room spawns, and just concentrating on the burning.. the AEs arent THAT bad, just have a healer doing splashes for each group :)

we do very simalar. burn mob to 50 . trick to this is we keep 1 group on each mob. melee . to keep dps about the same. sk agros the add when they come threw the door. chanters charm one of the mobs one mob always come in as a db rest are red the db is chamable. after adds raid spreads back out on dps on named and projection rinse repaet. be sure NO ONE us curing or u will all die very quickly.

By ignoring the room, venom becomes more powerful, how hard does he hit each time he powers up. One more quesion sorry, how often does he cast his AE it seems to be a 10k per hit- thats not some thing to ignore ither.

well if you dont have anyone curing its realy not too bad, the dots will take people out if the healers dont stay on it, but if u have 1 cle/dru/shm per group splashing, its def doable..we have even been short on heals and have had rangers/pals cover heals in groups.... we also dont have the best tanks either and they can handle the "powered up VL/VP" our tanks are probably about 34-35k/5kac unbuffed.... so nothing too serious, we usualy have 4 tanks, 1 for each name, and 1 back up for each.. he doesnt hit any harder then 10k id say... by ignoreing the rooms it allowing u to focus ur dps and just zerg him down faster.. having all that caster dps realy helped our guild at least.... might be somthing worth trying if VL event is giving ya probs... once we starting ignoring the rooms, we beat it our first attempt

If your getting 10K hits it sounds like somebody might be curing the dots and setting of the AE nuke. Have to remind clerics that their shield click and some other heals have cure components.

The way it should work is a balance burn fight after 50, when adds come through the door everybody but the tanks switch targets, until the mobs are below 10%, then you just burn through the adds.

A side note whoever your MA is should always target the Kyv first.

1. If you have good chanters, you can charm the Rak (among the adds) and use him for dps on VL or the projection.

2. When your raid has (a) a lot of healers or (b) hi dps, you can stop killing the Protectors entirely and just heal thru the dots. As others have said, DON'T cure them, just heal thru.

3. Otherwise, we put a bunch of casters and a knight permanently upstairs, and melee downstairs. Upstairs, they just bomb the VL or projection, when they can and kill the 3 protectors when they spawn. Melee can go to the 2 downstairs as needed.

4. Always debuff the VL when he spawns and VL & Projection at 50%.

5. Time it (pull off dps if you must) so you don't have protectors and adds at the same time. 70%, 40%, 10%. Kill the protectors, then back to dps on Bosses till adds come, kill adds, etc.
