Upgrading my computer, need some advice please

refer to my above post

8800 50-75$
win7 175$
4gigs ram 75$ (its older ram cost more)
so about 300$

939 socket size you wont find a processor worth upgrading too unless they are universal with the AM2 line. I am not a big AMD cpu guy so I dont know their naming policy but just glancing its a different socket.

Thanks for the information. I think i'll learn a lot about it tomorrow once i've been to the shop to ask questions.

Im wondering what the cost is and whats involved in changing/upgrade the motherboard + the processor.

if you change cpu motherboard you will change ram. So 150-3k all depending on what you go with.

I just been to a computer shop and i think im going to upgrade my current PC to this:

Quad Q9460 - £100.00 (163.32 U.S. dollars)
XFX 750i (SLI) - £130.00 (212.31600 U.S. dollars)
Win 7 (64 bit) - £100.00 (163.32 U.S. dollars)
Corsair gaming 8gig - £160.00 (261.50400 U.S. dollars)
Graphics Card (can't remember name of it - 7 something mb) - £150

= £640 (1 045.248 U.S. dollars)

Is this shop over charging for these parts? Where could i buy them cheaper??

Thanks

Might as well sell my PC and get a new "Acer Aspire Predator G7200 Defender" for quite a bit less than these upgrades will cost me. With better components.

It comes with:
1GB Radeon HD4850 graphics card
AMD Phenom x4 9750 Quad-Core
(2.40GHz, 2MB Cache)
Windows 7 64 bit
4GB DDR2 800MHz Memory (upgrade it to 8GB)
640GB SATA Hard Drive (7200rpm)
Dual Layer DVD Rewriter
