Change providers, or google their website to see if they coverage maps for your area. Most normal cell services offer coverage maps (not exact but gives a good idea if you like in the sticks v.s the CBD).

that you dont have to pay service for?

You always have to pay service somewhere

The unlocked phones just enabled you to use an iPhone on say TMobile or Rogers instead of AT&T.

Looks like the new plan to make you register the phone before purchase is complete will stop some of the small time exporters
