What is the difference between a heroic adventure and other adventures?

Glad you asked I was wondering also as I am just coming back after a break and trying to get back into the know

Heroic adventures grant "Marks of Valor", as part of the reward.

Dead Hills, and Bixie Warfront mercenary tasks are the heroic ones.

These missions are how you get currency to buy stuff from the group merchant.

Heroic Adventures have steps that can be different from instance to instance. For example, a Heroic Adventure might have 3 possibilities for step 1, 3 possibilities for step 2, 4 possibilities for step 3. When you request the instance, the possible steps are chosen at random. So theoretically, the mission will be just a little different almost every time you run it.
