Anyone else have this problem? I start MQ2 loader, and then try to start EQ, but nothing happens from EQ's end. If i close MQ2loader, then EQ starts fine.... It's been this way for a couple of weeks now. What am i doing wrong??

I've patched MQ2 and it's completely up to date as far as I can tell. So is EQ.

Guessing you have read the multiple and multiple threads about this heh?

MMOLoader will kill LaunchPad4 when started, due to LaunchPad4 searching for MacroQuest on your computer.

You'll need to use the eqgame.exe patchme method to launch or launch your windows first then load MMOLoader.

  1. Go to this post, and download vc86redist, and install it. It's a microsoft redistribution package for Visual Studio 2010 SP1. If you would rather download it directly from microsoft, you can go to their download page, and search for it. Link: http://www.mmobugs.com/forums/185731-post47.html
  2. Run EverQuest (LaunchPad) and patch your EQ. When the game is ready to launch, don't launch it.
  3. From your MacroQuest installation in start menu, or from your installation dir, run EQLaunch. If you don't have it, you can get it here (it does not require installation, just run it): http://www.mmobugs.com/updates/install/EQLaunch.exe
  4. The first time you run it, it will bring up a configuration window.
  5. Set the options however you want, then close the window.
  6. If you did NOT set MacroQuest2 to autolaunch via EQLaunch, this would be the proper time to run MMOLoader.
  7. Right-click the EQLaunch icon in your system tray, and launch everquest.

From then on, if you need to patch EverQuest, you would just:
  1. EverQuest / launchpad, and patch.
  2. EQLaunch: If automatic launch of stuff, that's it.
  3. If not automatic, then run MMOLoader
  4. If not automatic, then run EQ via the EQLaunch systray icon.

For not patching (which you really don't need to do except on patch days), you only do:
  1. Run EQLaunch, if automatic, that's it.
  2. If not automatic, run mmoloader.
  3. If not automatic, run everquest via the eqlaunch systray icon.

If you use WinEQ2 or InnerSpace, and have patch TURNED OFF (eqgame.exe patchme), or run it via a direct shortcut using the same patchme option, it's pretty much the same thing.
  1. Patch EQ
  2. Run MMOLoader
  3. Run InnerSpace / WinEQ2, and launch EQ with no patching.

I found that MQ2 seems to load if i start my EQ sessions and then quit the launch-pad and start MMOBUGS loader. Is that a safe way to play, or could i be detected?

Thanks!

That's fine. MQ2 will kill LP4 if it's running, so you would be fine even without shutting down LP4. Not a bad habit to just go ahead and kill it yourself though.

Thanks htw,

I was wondering if you could shed some light on another question i have - is it safe to /target [named] ... i walk in a zone and want to see if there's a certain named up, and highlight npc on the map is kind of hard to see in a crowded zone. I am concerned that if i target the mob across the zone, it would send info to server (such as for health of target target). Is it safe to do that or is there a better way to look for a mob if it's up?

Many thanks!

You don't have to target a named to see if it's up. Type /who NPC # or /who NPC nameofthemob.

So isnt it an invsasion of privacy for SOE to be detecting 3rd party programs? like are they able to see all the porn I watch also if the patcher is up?

you could also use mq2target that will tell you if a mob is up and the general direction to go to get to it.

no they are just watching for the midget porn, rest is totally legit but midget porn is insta ban:)
