I told some guy working on the shawl in my guild about it, he actually told me it's a waste of money I had to lol. He claimed he spent 500k to skillup Smithing and Tailoring, I spent 100k...lets see at 13-15 per 100k it appears to be a savings.

People are soo silly.

All I know is the bazaar market has absolutely tanked. No way am I going to recoup the 5Mill I just spent maxing tradeskills on my alts right before this went live. Sigh.

That was pretty much the same thing that happened during PoP - the tradeskilled neck item was so nice that many raiders maxed tradeskills and the market tanked for literally a couple years on most tradeskill items.

I expect the same here with the shawl.

just maxed JC , Baking, Brewing, Smithing, Tailoring, and posion making for around 250 k. Looking for a good high trivial recipe for fletching next.

Jc was annoying I used a few for baking all I did was make timeless hunters sausages then turn the sausages into a steak form because the sausage was the only non store bought ingredient and got double skill ups. Baking was super easy.

For me I just cut gems for jc, actually made plat when increasing skill. I just set up a buyer and let him buy the gems then sold result to merchant npc.

It's what, two hours? Still could be worth it if you use the tradeskill macros to get as close as you can and then start the TS binge

I had three tradeskills at 300 before this came out, basically need to do all the subcombines now for the run to 300 in the others before I try one oif these. Curious to see how far I get.

Worst case be patient and wait until the next station double-cash weekend and buy two. (Too bad they have the $5 minumum - have 900 on several toons)

I just tried this. It does for the most part keep all items. I would loose one item for every 15 to 20 attempts. I was doing teyloring and my skill level with trophy is only 133. I did make one item the had a triv of 510. But the bad news is...I had no skill ups. Im thinking that it is because I was doing to high a triv. item. So yes it is a good buy to get the potion.IMO

That doesn't make any sense. You should still get skillups when you fail, regardless of what the trivial of the item is. Can you verify that your skill is the same now as it was before you started?

If this is the case, then maybe sony nerfed the ability to use it specifically for skill ups.

Frankly, I'm a little miffed now that all my toons are at or near max aa's because I can't just farm 20 combines of something with a really really high trivial and pop a potion and let a macro go to work. With the mastery aa's you have a 50% chance of making any item... bleh!

If they changed the potion, it was a stealth nerf in the September patch. I used one a week before the patch (after it was changed to count down in guild hall) and it was working as expected, with skill-ups recieved.

I would be surprised if they made another change of this magnitude to the draught of the craftsman without announcing it - or comment on the boards.

Anyone else try using one of these potions since the patch?

I just ran through one today, was able to max my research and get tailoring to 250 before time ran out.

Cost me about 10k for research doing 150 runed binding powder combines that I had a guildy summon the essences for, and then following those combines up with a runed scroll of pestulence(455). Went from 133 to 300 in 34 minutes with about 50 successful combines along the way and finished out the rest of my combines in the next 15 or so, taking my trophy to 28% through level 6.

Tailoring was a bit tougher, cost me around 25k including some exquisite silks that I was lacking. Spent 10 minutes getting my tailoring trophy that I gathered the supplies on an alt for which took a chunk out of my skill gains and then spent the last hour of my potion making exquisite silk glove templates (426). Unfortunately my tailoring trophy did not level the whole time, perhaps because my skill was too far below the combines trivial level.

All of this was done as a level 51 necro with max stats and no points in any tradeskill aa's. I also did not lose any components due to a failed combine the entire time.

Hope this information can be of help to someone in the future, because tradeskills are a royal pain in the a**.
