Nox brings up a good point. How I would love to see Palin run the US. That's even better than Paris Hilton.

honestly i'd rate palin about as experienced as obama :)

This 100%.

I wish my candidate had gotten nominated, I really don't like anyone running. But to deride Palin by saying she's inexperienced when she is just as experienced in executive matters as Obama, if not more so, is a purely partisan argument.

The democrats keep arguing that the rich don't pay any taxes. The IRS says they do, but apparently they are wrong. The dems say that corporations don't pay any taxes, despite the IRS showing that they do, must be a right-wing conspiracy . If taxes are cut for 95% of americans, how does Obama think he's going to pay for all these new socialist programs that he wants to put into place? Wealth redistribution? And that is an American idea how exactly?

I worry for my country. Even the mild socialism here in Australia isn't as bad as what I hear coming from Obama's camp.

My families been in the top tax bracket my whole life and damn they work for that shit to. Dad drives hour and a half to work flies out of town 4-5 days a week regularly stressed as hell and for some reason he deserves to be taxed more? doesn't make sense. The guy already pays more than some people make in taxes but hey he doesn't deserve that money..

On a side note he does not come from a rich family and has no degree no AA nothing. Worked his way up the ladder the hard way so you can't say it was given to him.

I'm not American but here's my view from the outside. Society really faces a problem where the rich are getting richer and the poor get poorer over time. Anything that stops this gap from getting bigger is a good thing for your country as a whole.

You earn more money, you pay higher taxes to help the country you live in become a better place, and help everyone around you have a better standard of living. Sure it doesn't sound fair for you as a person, working your ass off so slackers get a better standard of living, but in the end you still have more money than them and your making your country a better place (If your government would spend it on making your country a better place rather than other country's).

As much as I hate paying taxes, higher taxes for those that earn more is only logical. Tax cuts on higher income earners that can afford it is a really dumb idea. I personally think the problem is your taxes are not being spent correctly on your country's needs and minimum wage is still way too low in comparison to average company profits.

Thats my serious post for the week.

Those that earn more are paying more in taxes regardless due to the percentage of what they earn versus the percentage of what lower income. If you have someone making $1000 a year paying 10%, they pay $100. If you have someone making $1000000 a year paying 10%, they pay $100000. It's relative.

We should do away completely with income tax and move to a national sales tax and eliminate a lot of the tax discussions.

Yea the percentage increases the higher your move up in the tax bracket but it seems everytime theres an election their trying to find an excuse to raise it even higher. For government funded health care and such?

In the us i'd like no part of that fiasco

There is a 4% difference in the tax rates proposed from Obama and McCain. People call Obama a socialist because of it. Let me try and find the article I read about this.

The point is those that earn a million dollars can afford to pay a higher percentage than those than earn $1000. Your government needs money, and this is the most logical place to find it. This point is really doesn't matter though, those than earn a million dollars just hire some hot shot accountant to lower the amount of tax they pay anyway while the person who earns $1000 knows nothing about the system and pays the full amount. Americans actually have a pretty low tax rate compared to the rest of the modern world.

Again I hate paying taxes as much as anyone, and I wish they would lower taxes too. Realistically it can't happen or they'd need to find money elsewhere.

Logical solution is simple.. Stop spending so much fucking money when we dont need to.. That would mean less need to tax the rich!

just an idea

the solution is so easy impliment a flat tax for everyone and eliminate the IRS to save the money.

No one in the US who makes less than ~$24,000 a year pays one penny of tax. They get all that money back, and if they have a child they get EIC so they get a BONUS from the US Gov't just for having a kid. However, if you earn more than I think it's $44,000 you no longer qualify for the EIC so you no longer get that payment.

All my life I have never owed the US any money in my taxes. Of course I pay tax based on income, but the amount deducted from my checks has ALWAYS covered that tax amount. I make around $55,000 per annum with what I do. And I assure you I pay more taxes to Australia than I ever payed to the US. Especially since I am still beholden to pay US taxes, as a citizen of that nation.

I do not think of him as a socialist because of his tax plan, but because of his attitude towards the capitalist society that there is in America. He wants to create socialised health care and have the rich pay for it, by having them incur extra taxes. He wants to create government jobs for hundreds of workers, subsidised by taxes levied against the most hardworking americans in the wealthy and the corporations that already pay aggressively high taxes. Why is it exactly you think so many corporations are leaving the US?

Now, don't get me wrong in this. I don't like McCain. I don't want him as president. But I'd rather have him than Barack Obama.

I like McCain better than I like obama, but you have to look at his choices. The fact that he chose palin..... come on, really now, just for the female and horny male vote? seriously.... there are so many better candidates for vice presidency, when he knows they have a high chance of becoming president if he dies, which is very possible.
