Is there a way to find a plugins sourcecode from the .dll itself ?

Nope.

Somebody may be able to read the ASM code and construct a close resemblence if they know enough, but as for just outputting sourcode that's a definate no.

Source Code = 3,000 page book
Dll = 30 page cliff notes

Not reversible.

Well if the dll was build with debug symbols on you can get the code back, but I doubt anyone distributes dll this way, besides sometimes Microsoft on beta releases (that s how the first divx codec was build from windows media codec:) )

It isn't all that hard for an experienced programmer to take a peak at a DLL and work out what it's doing. They still need to pretty much write the plugin from scratch though.

Fry.
