Here's a sneak peek at the Update Notes for the Thursday, October 4th update. Please note that these notes may or may not be changed before the servers re-open on Thursday.

*** Highlights ***

- New Cultural Tradeskill Recipes: The long awaited cultural update has been implemented. You will find the new books you need on "historians" that you can find in some of the more popular shopping zones. You will actually learn the new recipes directly by scribing these books. With this change the old recipes have been disabled.

- Copy Layout Window: Typing either /copylayout or pressing the Copy Layout button within the General tab of the Options window will bring up a list of all your UI_name_server.ini files with each layout stored in them (along with the ones stored in defaults.ini). Selecting one will copy the layout you selected over the current layout, including any custom skin, viewport and alpha/color/fade settings that might be in use. This can also be done directly (for those with a custom UI that does not contain the new window) by typing "/copylayout resolution INI_filename" where resolution is in the form "1280x1024" or "Windowed" for the windowed layout. INI_filename is optional, and defaults to the currently logged in character's UI INI file.

- Fabled Adventurer Drinks: Criers around the world are carrying news of a new pair of drinks honoring the fabled adventurers.

*** Items ***

- Corrected the required level for the spell effect on Soulfed Green Legion Lifestone to match the item's required level.
- The Iron Cudgel of the Clairvoyant has fallen out of style and can no longer be worn as a hat.
- Fixed a bug in the return of Radiant Titanite of Minor Potency. It was returning the incorrect Mark on success.

*** Tradeskills ***

- Caerlenya in the bazaar will exchange the old swatches and bars to new items that can be used in the new update.

*** UI ***

- Fixed numerous UI issues related to changing the game resolution.
- The /viewport command has a new optional parameter. The 5th parameter "scale" can be "0" or "1". Not including it or using "0" causes /viewport to behave the way it always has, allowing a fixed size viewport. Using "1" causes the viewport to scale with the windowed mode EQ window as it resizes.
- Fixed several problems with window layouts and custom skins. The changes affect the way the windowed mode window layout is saved. In most cases your windowed mode layout will be converted for you automatically as you log each character into the game. However, in some cases the conversion will be unable to determine the original size of your windowed mode window. If this occurs you can simply use the new copy layout window (which should be displayed automatically for default skin users) or /copylayout command to copy a window layout of your choice to be your windowed mode layout. For more information visit the EverQuest forum thread on the subject.
- Notes to custom UI builders: There was at least one custom UI that did not render windows at all when they were minimized. The UI changes include persisting the minimized state of windows. In those custom UI's, if you minimize, and the window disappears, there is no way of getting it back unless you manually edit the .ini file to change the Minimized setting.

So looks like they still havent fixed my zerker epic 1.5 wonder how long it will be broken...

Removed links as I copied and pasted the patch message and don't really know where the links should point to :)

To give ya guys a heads up As I was working up the new offsets

#define __SendMessage

was changed up so a good chance monkbug was fixed

what other stuff does that affect?

or just monkbug?

one im curious about are nodelay, warping, the stuff used for tradeskill macro etc

Could be a number of things, namely packet spamming..

monkbug is fixed in this patch, and I'm not positive but I am expecting moderately re-written network code as well.

Is it me or is this a pathetic patch? Hardly anything is changed. I'm sure stuff under the covers is changed, but when it comes to known bugs, etc., there's little there.

known bugs aren't always reported to have been fixed. They don't seem to fess up to as many changes as they actually make these days

highly risky is my guess. There was talk about fixing the packet counters to actually work as they were intended from the start, but that remains to be seen.

I believe what the end result was supposed to be was a method for detecting flooding packets and stopping those from happening via GM interaction or disconnecting.

Can't give you any specifics because I don't have any to give unfortunately, but my [vague] source is highly reliable.

For all you addicts out there, as of this post servers are up! :)

To be honest, I really don't think too many people expected it to continue post patch anyway, so no biggie here. I got what I wanted out of it, and that is fine for me.

Once again, don't care. He made money, great for him. But by him doing so, it allowed this to come out in a free version and once again, I got what I wanted out of it. No regrets. If it is gone, it is gone.

Hope the monk bug goes away...

I personally hope it's gone. It is probably the one thing that will piss Sony off enough to squash MQ2 on a more consistant and permanent basis.

I can say, that once Sony makes it so we can't use MQ2 anymore (for anything but the monkbug), I will be done with Sony from that point on.

Time will tell.

I got what I wanted from it and upsaint didnt get shit from me.

just out of curiousity what was the monk bug im taking that monkbug =GK?

Yes, when it wasnt even a monk bug.. it was for all classes.

And it was free on another site... upsaint just stole that shit and made profit off it.

Also the true GK was working last Christmas.
