Just came back to game and I see people have been getting banned left and right and then the ban is reversed. So appears a lot of that is EQs mistakes I guess.

I never use active hacks, but I do use the following when playing:

I use the feature that allows you to auto follow when not in a group (totally forgot name of this one).

I use MQ2Autodestroy.

I like to use MQ2Melee and MQ2Maps That's about it mainly.

So are any of them problems these days?

Yes I been reading the forums trying to catch up, but is a lot to read.

If you do not use / load

warp / gate / stealth / piggyzone / summoncorpse / fade / fartaunt

you SHOULD(90%) be safe.

Those are the things that I last had heard to cause issues.

I have been back 3 weeks, my man has been back 3 months...we use MQ all the time, just for maps, the only semi naughty thing I do is target on the map.
