Recently I lost a hard drive and had to rebuild all my bot configuration files. However my group dps has seemed to slow down, most likely do to me not remembering the spell and song line ups i was using.

My bot group consists of:

100 Warrior 5k aa (leveling up a sk to replace him in group game)
100 Mage 5kaa
100 bard 4k aa
100 Cleric 4k aa
100 Wizard 4k aa
100 Shaman 5k aa

Magician Spell line up

Force of Elements
Twincast
Fickle Magma
Shock of Blistersteel
Broiling Sands
Bolt of Molten Magma

Pet = Fire Pet

Bard Spell Line up

War March of Protan
Echo of Va'Ker
Kaficus Spiteful Lyrics
Arcane Hymn
Gosik's Aria

Wizard Spell Line up

Twincast
Ethereal Weave (if twincast or syllable of fire is up)
Ethereal Hoarfrost (if twincast or syllable of ice is up)
Ethereal Salvo (if syllable of Master is up)
Claw of the Flamewing
Gosik's Fire
Leap of Static

Cleric spell lineup

Burst of Life
Fifteeenth Emblem
Graceful Remedy
Reverent Light
Fraught Renewal

Beacon of Life

Personally I do force of elements, relentless servant, rain of blistersteel, rain of scythes, fickle magma, spear of blistersteel. The rain spells are insanely mana efficient (I usually crit 60k x 3 on each of em). Also if you can, you want to throw in icebound paradox and blazing orb into your weave, as well as any other clicky nukes you have.

Also, especially if you're botting the mage, if the fire pet isn't in melee range of the mob, it's less DPS than the water pet. fire pet is superior only if it's in melee range. Water pet + weapons will generate more dps unless you're using the summon companion AA every fight to bring him into melee range.

Your bard songs are wrong. Using that aura lowers your dps compared to using the song version. You can also gain 400 mana per tick by switching it to this lineup:

Aura:
Aura of Salarra

if 4 songs:
1. War March of Protan
2. Aria of Va'ker
3. Arcane Hymn
4. Either Gosik's Aria for DPS, or Pulse of Salarra

If 5 songs (which you should do), then do all 5 of the above.

Aria of Va'ker:
Code:
Slot Description
1: Increase Spell Damage by [COLOR=Lime]41[/COLOR]%
2: Increase Haste v3 by [COLOR=Yellow]25[/COLOR]%
3: Limit: Effect (Hitpoints allowed)
4: Limit: Max Level(100) (lose 5% per level over cap)
5: Limit: Spell Type (Detrimental only)
6: Limit: Target (AE PC v1 excluded)
7: Limit: Target (PB AE excluded)
8: Limit: Target (Targeted AE excluded)
9: Limit: Combat Skills Not Allowed
10: Increase Chance to Triple Attack by[COLOR=Lime] 38[/COLOR]%
11: Flurry Chance ([COLOR=Lime]6[/COLOR]%) <-- this gets modded by instruments
12: Pet Flurry Chance ([COLOR=Lime]32[/COLOR])

Aura of Va'ker (no instrument mod):
Code:
Slot Description
1: Increase Spell Damage by[COLOR=Red] 28%[/COLOR]
2: Increase Haste v3 by [COLOR=Yellow]25[/COLOR]%
3: Limit: Effect (Hitpoints allowed)
4: Limit: Max Level(100) (lose 5% per level over cap)
5: Limit: Spell Type (Detrimental only)
6: Limit: Target (AE PC v1 excluded)
7: Limit: Target (PB AE excluded)
8: Limit: Target (Targeted AE excluded)
9: Limit: Combat Skills Not Allowed
10: Increase Chance to Triple Attack by[COLOR=Red] 25%[/COLOR]
11: Flurry Chance ([COLOR=Red]18[/COLOR]%)
12: Pet Flurry Chance ([COLOR=Red]24[/COLOR])

You can boost your mage damage by doing what dealings said: 2 bolts + fickle.

do you have to dick around w water pet trying to always get him behind a mob, not always easy if u are boxinng mage

As long as water pet is using weapons, facing doesn't matter anymore.

Hmm... I thought air pet was the way to go for mages due to its powerful stuns.

It's fire or water now?

I use mage as a support/dps element in my own bot group. I rarely need the pet to take over tanking duties since if my warrior dies I employ a tactical response (EVAC! EVAC! EVAC!) so I want the pet to contribute dps and any damage reduction ability it can provide, which has been stunning.

The expert consensus for this purpose now is fire or water?

Personally, on raids I generally use a fire pet, and when I'm playing my mage only, I use a fire pet.

If I'm boxing, I will use either air, water or earth, depending on the situation. If it's somewhere difficult, I'll use earth (backup tank, since I have no other melees in my group), if it's easy I use water (more dps, faster kills), if it's medium or I'm lazy, I'll use air for those same reasons you mentioned (stuns). I've been grinding for the past 30 hours or so in CoB and have been using an air pet, since my warrior is still kinda gimp, so the additional mitigation was awesome. He's getting beefier though, so I'll probably switch over to a water pet once I get my ini's all sorted out.

But it's one of those where the situation determines what pet I have out. And in good fashion, I always keep a raid bufed, second spire'd, VT'ed/FBO/etc water pet for when I want to make parses =P. All pets gained some massive viability at some point in time.
