Unless they do something to actually protect the online game play so every other person is not able to hack / dupe the game will suck like Diablo2

Warden? It's not 100% but I will be surprised to not see it as a part of Diablo 3.

Online play is shit anyway. Well I never really did get into diablo 2, but I have wasted many many hours playing diablo 1.

I really loved diablo 1 single player or over a LAN, with no cheats of course.

Tons of fun!

Hopefully its main focus will be on single player action.

Realms/Ladder play was 99% server-side. You had map-hacks, but warden now catches most of them (I played in 2006, there were a few that were still working). There were a few duping schemes then too, you would get a sorceress and necro and lag the game enough, drop all your items then log back into the game and grab the duped items. They plugged that about a year ago, but am sure there are others. The most I ever did was dupe, and use the map hacks. Also you could get from 1-99 by just taking a few friends and do the UBERS. It would literally take 25 minutes to get there. Just stick your low level characters in the corners and kill the pops. Not sure if this still works.

You had cheaters but they were not on the live/ladder servers, they used to hack their characters and play them against them. That was where the sick cheaters really were. What fun was there in making a character with 999 stats, and unlimited health, weapons that do 99,999,999 damage in 1 hit, etc. I never played on these servers.

Diablo II LoD was a nice improvement over Diablo I. I would like to see Diablo 3 one day. Was a fun game, but the content was SMALL by comparison to EQ, or WoW, etc.

Warden has changed it DRASTICALLY. Now logging in and out of accounts will cause you to be banned (so muling is tough, without 2 computers). They have banned my accounts for 1 day, 1 week etc depending on how badly I abused my mules. And even using IP Spoofing didn't work, it was built into the account, and Warden.

WoW is my guess.. There are always people coming and going from any team, and they have a pretty big one with WoW.

An online Diablo MMO would be counterproductive to their WoW franchise. Yes they would likely get customers, but at the expense of their existing fanbase. Diablo plays more like an arcade style game, anyway. Starcraft is far more likely, and they are only getting ready for SC2 now.

Requirements

• 3+ years game design experience including Senior -or- Lead Design experience on a shipped product.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Absolute Passion for playing and making computer games.
• Ability to work well in a team environment

The list of leads who have shipped products is pretty small, for the industry. Unless they are open to non-mmo titles as well.
