Gears of War PC was announced by Microsoft at their E3 media briefing last night, rolling out CliffyB to present the news to the press. PC gamers get the welcome news that the game will include PC-specific content in the form of five new single-player missions (which will support co-op) as well as a level editor. Perhaps more welcome is the news that the game will run under Windows XP as well as Windows Vista, confirming that Windows Live will not be Vista only. Epic also announced support for Windows Live in Unreal 3, and that Sega, Eidos, and THQ have all signed on to support the nascent multiplayer service. The (already leaked) trailer showing off the PC edition of the game can be found on ActionTrip. This press release covers this and the rest of Microsoft's announcements kicking off the show. Here's a bit:
“Gears of War” will emerge on Windows XP-based and Windows Vista-based PCs this holiday with five new campaign chapters, a new multiplayer mode and a new game editor that will unleash the creativity of “Gears of War” players — only available for Windows. “Gears of War” will also take advantage of DirectX® 10 graphics technology, which is only available on Windows Vista. Also today, Epic Games unveiled the addition of Games for Windows – LIVE integration to the award winning Unreal® Engine 3. This landmark announcement will make it easier than ever for game developers using Epic’s next-generation technology to take advantage of Microsoft’s online gaming network.

I haven't ever actually played the game - but quite afew people seem to really love the game on the 360.

On a scale 1-10

Call of Duty 3===9/10
INSANE online multiplayer, pretty good singleplayer.
Gears of War====8.9/10
Top notch online gameplay, single player is fantastic, even better since you can play co-op through Xbox live-one of the first games to do this.
Halo 3 beta=====6.5/10
Just to give a reference for others
Have rented every single game at blockbuster for the 360 and CoD 3/Gears of War are the only games I would even consider buying.

I actually liked GoW better than CoD3 but yes those were easily the top two games for 360. I liked Crackdown a lot as well but it was over way too fast, and the fact I'm not big on playing the cop character saving the city...The Godfather was awesome while i played it, but then i got it for Wii and that blew the 360 version out of the water but all that is completely a side note - if they do GoW for XP id actually buy that game not just download it lol.

I liked gears of war before they changed you cant team up with your friends in ranked matches and the down fall for gears of war is there matchmakeing, I give there matchmakeing 10 out of a 10 being the worst ever! But when u do get in the game it is excellent except for when people quit. As for the game in whole ill give it a 5 out of a 10. Just my opinion.

you can't team stack so the game sucks? rofl im sorry but this is one of the best first person shooters ever made.

Like i said its my opinion! I pay for xbox live to play with my friends not with people who wants to quit if you are loseing! call it what you want its my opinion. I for one didnt say the game sucked so reread my comment i simply said its an average game for me and that the matchmakeing sucks! As in it takes forever to get a game started and if you say it dont then u lie! If they where smart they would have done what halo2 did with there matchmakeing.

The drawbacks of gears of war would have to be the problems in matchmaking, which are-

1:People leave early when they get beat.
2:Getting a good game is semi slow.
3:Host has too much of an advantage over the other players in the game.

Even with these drawbacks this game is far better than any other 360 game so far(Call of Duty is just as good).

its not an fps, and i expect it to be a mediocre console to pc port and another way for microsoft to push vista on gamers. i never really was impressed by the game to begin with.

I love the game but its not really fair when playing online matches, and whoever said and i quote 3:Host has too much of an advantage over the other players in the game. surely has played the game and knows what hes talking about. other then that I think it is the best first person shooter I have ever played.
