Well I am not a big Harry Potter fan, I don't read the books at all, but I have to say this was my favorite of the 5 so far on the silver screen. The plot was detailed, the characters worked out well, and the action and story was not that hard to follow. Definitely darker than the previous versions, and I agree the characters have grown into the parts so well - the acting is great. Seeing this at an IMAX theatre while not a must, definitely was a big plus though.
Friend of mine that is a loyal fan also said there were a few scenes that they should have included as well. But as a movie goer I found it easy enough to understand. |

it wasn't that they cut things out, that is to be expected in all movies from books.
But it was the sheer amount they removed. Some of it was pretty key, and quite a few I was looking forward to seeing (like the centaur intelligence and pride, the hospital, etc...) It would have been awesome to see the different rooms in the ministry. And removing Harry's interview in the Quibbler where he names all the deatheaters from the gobblet scene was most disappointing. And Kreatur had so much of a role in the book, but reduced to 2 scenes, which might as well have left him out completely. And Hagrid getting spells bounced off him as they try to take him. I'm glad they removed things like SPEW. But they should have also removed Luna's missing shoes, since that was part of it, and used that time for something else. Some scenes that they condensed, were annoying, but completely understandable. Like Harry and Cho, Harry's lessons with snape, and a lot of the teacer interaction. I wanted to see Firenze take over that one class and get excommunicated by the centaurs. There is just so much, but the post would go as long as the movie. It was still enjoyable. Just out of all the HP movies, you really lose a lot in the conversion on this one. They should have kept the other director. |

I haven't read Order of the Phoenix so i can't comment directly on this, but i have read up through goblet of fire. I can say that as for the other movies ive seen i constantly hear people bitching about scenes left out, and i honestly just don't see it. I mean yeah there are usually 2 - 3 things missing but isn't that a bit of a nitpick reason to not like a movie as much. If they left it out of the book im sure you would still love the book just as much. I choose not to compare them so it doesn't bother me to the point i cant thoroughly enjoy the movie. What I do, is when I watch a movie based off a book, I completely forget everything i can about that book, and i usually enjoy the movie (except for battlefield earth my lawd that was a butchering) Bottom line being that seeing as how Bratz is coming out in theatres soon, you can't possibly call Harry Potter a bad movie.

Don't even try to hide it, Demon. You know you'll be the first in line for the Bratz release...I bet you'll even be dressed in character!!!

I typically do not compare the book to movie but in some cases the 3 book / movie comparison is horrid. Only the third was even close in comparison between the 2.
Born Identity Man on Fire Kiss the Girls Never read the HP series so going to start them this week, then watch the corresponding movie after each book just to see how different they are.
