Saw it last night and loved it. I think this series is progressing nicely. At least as far as the films go. The actors are really starting to come into thier own and show some real talent, instead of the "cuteness" they started with. All in all i'd say it's definatly a must see for any Harry Potter fan, and even if you're not familiar with the series, it's worth a look. Just get em in order lol.

If you think alot was cut out of the Harry Potter movies...you must fucking have nightmares of the Lord of the Rings movies. Wish painfull death upon all of the makers, and everytime you see it in a movie rental place you bleed tears.

Maybe it was because I watched recently watched Transformers 3 times but this Potter I did not think was all that good.
Special Effects lacked and the movie was 30 minutes to long for as little as they showed. At least the spoiler that was read on the radio was wrong.

the movie was sooo slow and could have had more stuff cut out to make it to where it didn't suck so much =P

For anyone that hasn't read the book, it was good.
I enjoyed it, but was disappointed in how much they cut and condensed. I was really looking forward to so many scenes, only to have them totally gone, or rewritten into others rather quickly and shoddily. Minor changes are ok. But dang. They should have just gone 3 hours and added some very minor details. |

Loved it
Saw it Thursday and loved it. Tried to go on Wednesday but it was 102 degrees out and the line for the showings 4 hours later extended close to half a block. Went Thursday morning when people were at work and there was no line.
If you have access to an Imax theatre see it there. I personally was not able to but a friend of mine did. The main fight sequence was shot in 3D and he said it was spectacular. I may end up seeing it again on IMAX for this very reason. On a side note my Fiance was upset about the ending and has determined that the next one which is far more depressing I will see alone. She has not read the books so didn't know what to expect and she loved it as well. I was disappointed by some of the sequences they left out but it was a good movie overall. |

Books always win out to movies. Always will. You just have to look at the two and see if the same ideas are generated. An average novel done right on film would be a 8 hour marathon movie.
I'm looking forward to seeing this. (I think Hermoine is legal now) |

It was ok, but i was let down buy the fight's they where way to short. I've never really liked books gone movie they always leave good parts of the book out , it was worth seeing though.

If you look at some of the movies that were made from books there are always going to be some features that come out better on screen and some that coume out better in print. Take The Godfather for example. It's hard to find a list of the all time greatest movies that doesn't include this one. The book was awesome, this is true, but the book didn't have Marlon Brandos raspy voice, Al Pacinos stare, or the look on Diane Keatons face when she found out who she was married to. There are some times when i find the movie notably better than the book. Stephen King wrote a short story, one of many and even though the name escapes me, it was definatly not one of his best. But the movie they made out of it is The Shawshank Redemption. Thats a hard one to not like. I've seen it a dozen times or more, and i can't resist dropping the remote and watching it again when i find it on while flipping through the channels. And 'm sure i'll get flamed for this one, but ..... The Lord Of The Rings. The books were great, no doubt, but at times it was a slog trying to get through them. I'm an avid reader and i can get lost in a good book for hours at a time, but with these there were several times i'd have to put it down after just a few minutes and try again when i was in a frame of mind for something that moved soooooo slowly. Now the movies ..... Not much i can say except awesome. I guess it all comes down to what your personal preferance is. Personally i don't find one medium better than another. Just different. |

That's actually the point I was trying to make. Don't compare the two (books and movies) as equals, view them as different mediums that attain the the same goal by different means.
