I thought it was a fucking kick ass movie..kept me on my toes the whole time..never got slow and boring, was just awesome..best movie of 08 so far..still yet to see Bat Man ( The Dark Night )...but as of this moment I think it's the best of the year..

they butchered the real story behind 21. It was good movie but they might as well made the real deal.

I hate to be cliche, but the book was much better and very easy to read.

I never understood why people always compare the book to the movie.
Books are always better than movies.
I never walk into a movie thinking about the book though.
I like to walk out and go was i entertained? If yes then I like the movie.

To the original poster if this kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Then do not go see Batman it will end up killing you.

Far as movie to book thing. I never read the book. The guy who taught these kids is a gambling icon/legend. He taught a group of mostly asian kids to do this. How hard would it have been to find a few asian american kids to do this movie. Lot easier than teaching the male lead how to speak american english well enough to play the part and so we could understand him. some of the casino security precautions or procedures are off. Just little things they did to try and spice up the movie. Yes was somewhat entertaining to me. But I am a gambler for a long time and a casino employess for about half that time.

And I say if they did the story close to the real life happenings. And really got into the realms of addicted compulsive gamblers and the dark side of that world. Might be less flashy in some ways and more in others and been something that a big majority of americans who live near gaming cities, could have clicked with. Like what Rounders did for poker and The color of money did for pool in the early 80's and the Hustler back in the 60's I think I would have to check. Not saying make everyone go out and play and lose themselves and their life savings and houses and stuff. Say to any damn poker player in a terrible russian accent "I'm up 30,000 from the last time I stick it in you" and you might have to blow your damn brains out from the next hour of reliving the damn movie in quotes from the movies...to people saying how they had something similar to something int he movie happened to them.. maybe even saying the writers stole it from a interview from them in a card roo.
Say on the snap Vince to a pool player. When I say pool player I do not mean someone who thinks he is good. I mean someone willing to play a race 11 for $1000. And you will probably end up wanting to blow your damn brains out. From old hustling and gambling tales.
Say Fat man you shoot a great game of pool!! And if they are 80 to recently and can play pool(see above definition) again load the damn gun.
It could have been a cult classic with some decent acting and directing and a person who understands the gambling world and how to put it into a script for a movie.

Sorry I am tired and low blood sugar I think started ranting and I do not even know what I was talking about upon going back and reading. Other than they butchered what happened and stuff.
