Forbidden Kingdom
The Jackie Chan / Jet Li movie. I rolled in to watch it just because I had nothing better to do and the movie was nothing like what I was expecting. Ended up being much better than I thought it would be, but in a kinda cheesy way.
Anyway, if you have kids, not a bad one for them to see. |

I wouldn't say it was better than I thought it would be, but it certainly wasn't what I was expecting from 2 of the most famous movie martial artists in recent history. The cheesiness was distracting sometimes, and the transformation the kid in the movie made was a little unbelievable (if he's getting his ass kicked so much, where are his muscles?).
Thank god they picked a hot asian chick for the female sidekick... she made the movie much more pleasant on the eyes. |

What do you mean? As the movie progresses you see his muscles develop. With that as they develop he stops getting his ass kicked.

Barely... Its like the difference between shooting the scene with cold muscles, and letting him do some bicep curls and tricep extensions RIGHT before shooting to pump him up a little.

because they don't turn him into a muscle bound stud?

because he's beating up muscle-bound studs who presumably have years of training on him, too. One or the other are believable, but not both.
