I would like to personally thank the devs of MMOBugs for so valiantly defending Arune and ensuring everyone he was legitimate when people started asking if his services would be secure. I just got denied any refund by Paypal today for the $500 he scammed from me. Obviously it was my decision to proceed with his services, but that was only with the backing of the devs that he was legit. Thanks guys!

As a side note, are there any other measures possible to attempt to get my money back or is that pretty much it? I guess Arune made out like a bandit if no one else got their money back huh?

Arune was in business way before he up and screwed everyone ... and that includes the devs.

Doesn't matter how many positive transactions someone does -- anyone can decide to screw people.

And you should thank the devs -- they've posted arune's personal information to try and help people get their money back. I can think of at least one of them that got screwed personally.

Personally, I think your post makes you sound like an asshat.

I am submitting my paypal information right now though I fear it is way to late.
I spoke with my bank today and they are doing a traceroute or whatever bankers call it.
I trained up near where he lives with a pmc prior to a few deployments to Iraq so have contacts near there.
If anyone would like to PM me to find out how to... I am initiating legal action vs. him via small claims courts in two states a visa card dispute as well as the paypal dispute, the FBI fraud reporting system I am using and filling out paper work as we speak.

Will review the information as it stands and reevaluate. I am saddened however irrelevant it may be, that I was unable to find a simple solution that was positive.

I know I sound like an asshat, and as soon as the initial anger leaves I will not be nearly as bitter. But when Dragonthorne says:

As a side note, did anyone ever actually receive a completed service by this poon? Dragonthorne said he was simply taking longer than normal. Can any verify he EVER completed a service for someone?

I made a post a month ago about what Arune was doing. Arune tried to defend himself in that post, and got caught in several different lies, further evidencing his dishonesty. While I'm appreciative of what personal information Vlad posted - it was all information anyone who Paypal'd Arune in the first place already had. I know Vlad lost money as well, so he was doing what he could to help. However, Arune's dishonesty was pointed out a month ago - and he was given leadway to continue posting WTS threads, and continue advertising his services until a week and a half ago - Admins here need to take responsibility for that.

I've read all 40 pages (or whatever) of that other thread where Arune was basically handed his ass, pointing out all his lies. It seems to me that if it was going that south people took their own fate into their hands by buying from him. I haven't talked to everyone he screwed, but it seems to me that the majority of people are from before then. I know a few people got screwed sending him money when they thought they were sending money to someone else after this all went down.

Don't agree with what? The fact that while Arune was being investigated for scamming almost 10 people for $400-$600 dollars the devs still allowed him to post WTS service ads to suck in more victims?

I have pay for Arune service, before Cappri, has pointed out that Arune was a scammer, but, i have to say, wasent cool, see he was still posting "WTS" here. In one of his thread, I even point out he was a scammer, and had 2 people asking me about, not sure if they lost there money or not... I jsut think , after his BS, was up, on Cappri thread, he shoul dhave lsot that privilege. My 2 cents.

It's not really a variable for you to agree or disagree with. People come to this community to buy and sell, because a lot of times it is safer than PA or other auction sites. It's tight knit, people know each other, people work together, etc - Arune was a good example of this. Obviously no one could foresee him ripping people off here, or ripping people off with Slayer - that doesn't negate the fact that it happened. The second suspicions arose with Arune, he should have been put under a microscope - he had a large sum of money being funneled his way, be it through his services, or handling auths for Slayer - everyone in a position of control on this site should have been able to see that.

As the provider of a site, and the services within the site - it is absolutely the responsibility of the administration to help protect it's paying members. My thread with Arune was locked, no stickies, no updates, nothing - in the MMOBay section, which was basically made useless with the integration of the MMOBay classifieds. It is not remotely surprising that new/newer users of MMOBugs did not read that thread, and it's not the responsibility of new/newer users to wade through threads in a section of this board which was blatantly said to be defunct after the implementation of MMOBay classifieds. In my opinion, people saw Arune's WTS service threads, people saw Arunes Lifetime tag, people should not necessarily be expected to run a search for 'Arune scams' at that point - how can be people be taking their 'fate into their own hands' in dealing with Arune in that instance?

I know that's a dicey opinion, and most users here are big on using the search function for everything - but as someone who has bought and sold accounts or services for years, and utilized pretty much every Internet avenue to do so, I can completely understand how people would come to a community like this one - and expect to feel secure in dealing with someone featuring a Lifetime tag, without in depth background checks. I understand that because this is a pay site, admins need to respect and give the benefit of the doubt to users - but I don't agree with that sentiment when several grand of those same user's money is in limbo. I also understand that in the past few weeks, admins did steer people away from Arune, but I don't think it was right he was allowed to continue posting and offering services while there were so many issues surrounding him.

Anyway, I digress - what happened happened, I don't think anyone expects MMO to do anything more, I don't think anyone can think of anything more that could be done - it will just make everyone that much wiser and cautious, even when dealing with Lifetime or well established members.
