New system is running perfect now. Vista surely is a memory hog though. Having 4 gigs of ram and just siting at desktop doing absolutely nothing usually 25-32% of that is in use. Not much of a issue to me with 4 gig but could certainly be to folks with 2 or less. |

That's not Probably Not Vista Being a Memory Hog, Vista is smart about memory and it will utilize free memory to preload programs that you use often in the background. If you end up needing these resources it will free them. Basically it takes nothing but allows commonly used programs to load faster. |

Are you talking about setting a program to just use 1 core in a multi core device? If so you can just go into task manager, right click on the process, and hit set affinty, and just uncheck all but one box.

Vista
So far vista is soso for me. Ever since i started using vista i end up crashing a lot while zoning. Sends me back to server select screen quite often. Other than that it seems nice. Just wish i could get the crash thing figured out

Using Vista 64 here, have since RC2 last year. The only issues I get, are the same as I had in XP, e.g. if explorer starts crashing, I take a look at what I installed that hooks into explorer, and usually removing one of those fixes it.
Otherwise, some of the drivers took a little while to polish. The only gripe I have is IE7, which IMO is one serious POS. No worries though, I have been a firefox user for years LOL. htw

Well not sure how to get it to work with eq.
I click on the ico and patcher comes up then dissapears and nothing happens. So I right click and run as Admin. I can then log into my account. After I log in and it does everything I hit the PLAY button. At this point the window opens to get to the next screen it tries to resize a few times and then ends program. I tried selecting run as win xp SP2 but still the same thing. I selected run as admin and I still have to right click and go through the security bypass for anything to work. still the same problem. When the window renders to goto the server select it just blinks out. There was no information on the web about this happening. If anyone could point me in the right direction - thanks. |
