Considering i do shift work, and most of the people i know do shift work, why is a Saturday different from any other day? I know this is off topic, but hell its just a 24 hour period.

every time they raised minimum before the economy was not already stressed.
Are you referring to organized labor unions? In regards to helping not have to work 6 days a week? You would be pro union, they are just as bad as political parties.

Yep, I'm referring to 'organized labor' (unions), who are 100 percent responsible for you having Saturdays off. And for shift laborers, are entirely responsible for the 40 hour work week (and the overtime you get when you exceed that).
Their other greatest hits include Equal Employment Opportunity (for those of you who like your ladies to have the opportunity to make some scratch, too), pretty much every single regulation related to safety in industrial jobs, any and all pension plans provided by private employers (the decline in these can be linked to the decline in organized labor), maternity leave and so on. But hey, if you want to live in a world without Saturdays where pregnant women are expected to deliver in the middle of the office or on the factory floor -- wait, never mind, pregnant women would just be un-hire-able -- and where coal mining companies and plastics mills aren't required to monitor, report or try to prevent workplace accidents, then you might just get your wish, because organized labor isn't doing too well. |

Also, there's very little sense in JJ and I debating any of these points. I don't even consider myself a democrat. I consider myself a socialist. I'm left of left of left. JJ and I have less than nothing in common politically.
And there's no problem with that. I can imagine JJ would be about as good at being a creative writing professor as I would be at running my own online business. We're different people in different walks of life, and while I'd gladly live in a world where people with JJ's perspectives didn't exist, I'll readily admit that a world like that would probably be missing a lot of things I enjoy. Whether JJ has a similar kind of respect for my beliefs doesn't really matter to me. If he were to spend a day in my shoes spewing his trademark variety of BS, the people I surround myself with would be very good at making him feel about an inch tall. I'm sure it would be the same the other way around. So whether it be guns, organized labor, health care, or the economy, there's simply no argument JJ or any of you could make that would make your beliefs ring true for me, just like there's no way I could possibly convince you that no human being deserves to make more than a cool million a year, or that access to family planning services is a fundamental human right. |

There was a time for labor unions once. Their time has passed. Ask the US Automakers how great their doing with the strength of the unions killing the industry.

While I do agree labor unions are not needed at this point in time, without them things will get slack again and in the future their will be another need.
American Motors hurt themselves when they decided to make less dependable cars so that people would have to buy more. However I do believe that is no long the case, and I do only buy American. |

How can one even converse with someone who outright says no one can change his mind. Again ignorance is bliss. The worse part about loving my country is socialist pricks who love only what they want and hate the rest. Luckily that is the best part of loving my country as well. Guess if we took away the right to listen to what music you like, that might make you want to fight for your freedoms again but, who knows. You might just go along with it.
