Network traffic tracking program

Hey folks...I'm a Comcast net user, which means that my line caps itself off now at 250gb/month. The problem is that...I'm also a big downloader, and I'm in a house with two other people with similar dispositions. Is there a way that I can track how much of that 250gb is being used?

I use a Linksys WRT54G2, and while I've tried looking around in the base station info, I haven't really seen anything there. Any suggestions? I was hoping that there a program or update for the firmware that would track just how much information it's passing.

look into dd-wrt its a custom opensource firmware built specifically for your router. its a VERY powerful firmware that does everything including QOS, traffic shaping as well as keeping track of how much bandwidth individual computers are using

Unfortunately, it appears that the WRT54G2 is not yet supported by any of the firmware programs that I can find...bleh. Oh well.

Isnt the 54 series made with the ability to use 3rd party firmware? thought all versions in that line supported that.

Should be able to use the 54g firmware for it.

I already tried the Tomato version, haven't tried the DD-WRT, but I don't really want to brick it.

the newer linksys routers are pretty hard to brick.

dd-wrt is definately the way to go, it looks like the wrt54g2 is on the "soon to be supported" list. although a new wrt310n is under $100cdn and fully supported and you can say good-bye to the crappy linksys firmware that locks up almost daily, 2months without a reboot on mine now

is there no way to get that information from your provider? if they monitor and limit it would stand to reason that they would make that information available to you for the asking.
