Rule in hell. But then again, I really dislike the idea of God, due to the fact that His existence would imply the existence of a Good and Evil that can be judged in absolute terms, among other things. Yay existentialism...

I will say this, though. The only appealing idea of a "next life" situation that I've ever found was the one described by author Dean Koontz in his "Odd Thomas" series of books. If there were to be an afterlife, I truly do hope that it resembles that. *shrug*

Believe in God, personally. I'm a Christian and a perfect example of just how far you can be from perfect, but still have hope.

As for the haters, I used to make fun of Christians, call them out and humiliate them solely on the basis of something I personally found distasteful, so I can't say much to you without being a blatant hypocrite. From what I've seen, usually you'll have people equating belief in God to being stupid, or unable to reason or be objective, or trying to paint some type of "herd mentality" stereotype. After living a little bit of life, I've come to understand that you can disagree with someone's faith and their idealism (political, spiritual or other) and do so respectfully without degrading and tearing them down because they don't suit your ideal of what is "right".

Some of the fairest and most logical thinkers I've ever met were people of faith. Being intelligent and acknowledging a sprituality to your life are not mutually exclusive traits. Of course, we've all known others that represent various religions that were clearly hypocrites / radicals / etc. However, I don't think it makes sense to dismiss an entire faith or ideology based on the actions of a few. Just my opinion.

It's not a satisfying conclusion, but the simple truth is that some things in life just aren't quantifiable and you can have no empirical evidence to support them. Whether it's the love of your family or your faith in a divine being, you can't take a measurement of that or put it in a bottle and weigh it.

Also, I've got really bad gas right now and I can't sleep. Thank you all for reading.

Good post Excellent1. I'd personally add that putting things we don't understand in a bucket, and crediting it to proof of a deity out there, doesn't cut it either.

I'm not saying one doesn't exist. I'm just saying we (as the human race), no matter how many current geniuses we have, don't understand everything. Just because we can't explain something, whether that be "yet" or "ever", does not (to me) provide evidence of a divine being.

Just my 2c.
