Desktop?
Boredom strikes again...
What are you using for your background/desktop? Who are you using, if the answer is relevant? I've currently got Summer Glau up, with a script of countdown timers...

I've been running Webshots as my wallpaper/screensaver for 10 years, now. With about 12,000 photos/pictures in my library under dozens of categories, I can click all of them, some of them or even just one category to be used and the program comes with built-in effects for those who like to see their pictures loaded in various ways. You can select random or let them load in the sequence they're in the library...how often you want your wallpaper cycled, how long each picture will stay on screen, etc.
You can download high-resolution photos/pictures from their website (which has millions from artists and users), or load your own .jpg's into the library as they'll be converted into the format the program uses. You can have it tile or center pictues, stretch to fit and all that manipulation. My current selections are Playboy Playmate of the Month's from 1953 thru the current magazine publication's spread. I checked and I have 3,800 Playmate pictures in the library. I've been keeping them updated from this French website who specializes in Playmates of the Month and scans every picture, himself. Actually, I created a folder containing about 200 of my favorite pictures out of all 3,800 and all 3 PC's just cycle thru them, continuously ![]() If I'm expecting company who I might think will feel awkward seeing all these beauties hitting the screens every 45 seconds, I just click that category off and others on...like landscapes, sunsets, beaches, various sports, cartoons or whatever. I used to be a registered member at Webshots.com with my own submitted collections that visitors would visit and download or leave messages about. For some reason a couple years ago, I stopped paying the $25 per year but still download the current version of the screensave program. All the membership did was allow me to download their millions of pictures in the highest resolutions possible so I'd be sure to not have cheap-looking photos being displayed. But since my collection is so huge, I don't need more in it. Ok, I just looked and they now have 591 million pictures, available ![]() http://www.webshots.com/ |

I use nothing but a solid black background, been using that as my desktop since Windows NT days....none of the backgrounds they had then were any good, solid black was easy on the eyes especially at night. Now I'm just too used to it to switch.

Your timers look pretty cool, care to supply details?

I use an HTML file for a background, rather than a simple JPEG. Inside of the HTML file, there's a part where it loads the image, and there's also a constantly looping Javascript that calculates the timers and prints them in the screen. I can post the file if anyone is interested.

Used to do the same thing when I was playing DAoC hardcore. It would populate the realm status and keep status to my desktop
