The hospital system I work for is non-profit. We will treat anyone for anything and not turn anyone away. We'll still bill you and turn you to collections, but it doesn't mean we won't treat whatever you have.
The US actually has it pretty good on lines with healthcare depending on where you go, what you have, and what you're willing to do. There are a lot of state funded options (Medicare/Medicaid) and several low income clinics (in our state, OU/OSU Student Medical Clinics) that work with what you have.
This debate is too nitpicky since I work in the field, but we aren't as bad off as Moore presents us being. Very biased film.
